We have
this clip-on high chair that we bought a long time ago and have never used. When we take DD to a restaurant, often the table is SO high that it's hard for her to reach food from the restaurant high chair. I'd love to get some use out of this clip-on thingy we have as I know it will put her at a better height on the table, but DH is concerned it'll tip a table over. She's probably between 16 and 17lbs at this point, so still pretty light. Plus I remember my mom putting my brother in one of these high chairs and he's 29 so if they weren't safe I can't imagine they'd still be around all these years later. I'd hate to think we've wasted 80 bucks on one of these. Anyone use one and have any thoughts?
Re: anyone use a clip-on high chair?
I think that as long as the table is secure, you should be fine. I'd ask for a booth where ever possible and see if I could attach it above the bench next to you as opposed to on the end.
We're planning on getting this one for Christmas. Mainly for visiting family & friends who don't have high chairs. Most of them have bars that we plan to attach it to though, not tables.
Edit for spelling.

We have this one: https://www.target.com/p/Chicco-360-Rotating-Hook-On-Chair-in-Miro/-/A-12202195
And LOVE it! We use it for everyday and it also packs up nicely for restaurants and such. As long as you install it correctly and I don't see a safety issue (and use the safety buckles.)

We have this one too and love it. DS is heavy (28lbs) and we've never had any problems with tipping.
