Babies: 6 - 9 Months

What's with the 45 minute naps?

All of the sudden, C has gone from 1.5-2 hour naps to 30-45 minutes. She wakes up crying (which she didn't do before) so I'm sure she's still tired.

What's the deal?

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut

Re: What's with the 45 minute naps?

  • All I can say is that our nap and sleep schedule has gone to the dogs since her first tooth arrived about two weeks ago. Does she have any teeth? I am super lucky because at the same time as this tooth, she has also gotten a cold and what the pedi calls viral diarrhea that could last 5-14 DAYS! It has been rough around here, to say the least.

  • I'd kill for 45 minute naps. We average 20-30 minutes in the morning and sometimes 40 in the afternoon.

I second PP. Maybe a tooth coming in?

  • I, too, would kill for an hour nap! We average about 40 min, 1 in the am and 1 in the pm. DS is NOT a good napper at all. But he does STTN so I guess I shouldn't complain. UGH.

  • A is just now taking a somewhat predictable long nap, usually from 2:30pm to 4pm. Prior to this 20 min naps were her norm, if she took one at all. The first time my friend watched her for us she couldn't believe that she didn't nap, as her two girls always did. Her comment to me was "How do you accomplish anything if she never sleeps?" and of course my answer... "I don't"

But I will second the teething thing, she started waking up throughout the night when she started teething. Before that she usually STTN.

DD had the viral diarrhea and it seemed like it lasted for a month!! I think we went through 3X the amount of diapers - freaking awful.

  • Naps are supposed to be longer than 45 minutes? Tongue Tied

. Ugh, I know. We are on day five today, and I am already using about twice as many wipes and diapers as usual. Also, almost everything has been in the wash over the last week too - RNP cover, Exersaucer and jumperoo cover, changing table cover, my duvet cover, her sheets. Ick!!!

  • Our little guy is 6 mo.  He has taken a hand full of naps longer than 45 minutes in his entire life.  Most naps are 30-40 minutes.  We are trying nap training...hopefully in a few weeks, I will have some recommendations about what to do to lengthen the naps.

  • Hey baby.

I'm sorry Caroline isn't napping that well anymore! I hope she goes back to it really soon!
