Whining to sleep?

DD usually has a bottle and falls asleep while drinking it for naps & bedtime. Yesterday & today she had her bottle but didn't fall asleep. Instead, she smushes hero face into me, squirms and does a continuous whine. After a couple minutes of this, I turn on the white noise and she goes right out in less than a minute. I always watch for her cues so I don't think she's overtired but maybe I'm missing something. Could it have anything to do with her teething? Just a phase?

  • Mine has done this too. She will just make noise as one last effort for the day, and then she is out. She does the bury the face thing as well. She must just like doing this because we find her several times during the night with her face against the mattress.

  • DS does this sometimes, too. And I used to nurse him to sleep as well. He started not falling asleep while nursing (at nap time) recently so I went ahead and put him down in his crib awake. He rolled around for a while and actually fell asleep on his own (for the 1st time ever for a nap). Maybe she's just ready to do it on her own?
