Anyone use amber for teething?

I've seen a bit about amber teething necklaces and am wondering if anyone tried them. I'm also wondering if the amber needs to be close to the face to get the full benefits for teething or if an anklet would be as effective. I'm considering getting and anklet and putting it on under a footed sleeper to help relief his pain at night, but ensure that there is no strangulation or choking hazard. Tylenol is not cutting it over here.

Re: Anyone use amber for teething?

  • We have one. He doesn't have any teeth yet though, so I'm not sure how good it works. I do notice that he's not as fussy when he's wearing it so that's something. And yeah, it's supposed to be as close to the pain as possible. So the necklace is best. The beads are all knotted individually, so the choking risk is very minimal. DS wears his all day and during naps, but we take it off at night.

  • I don't know if they're more effective if they're closer to the neck. DS wears his during the day around his neck but around his ankle under a sock or pjs during naps and the night. I do notice a difference between the times when he's wearing it and he's not. Some days the difference is more significant than others.

    All of this exactly.

  • I swear by it. Nor only does it help fussiness but it's virtually eliminated the drooling. Like PP said I put it as a necklace during the day and around her ankle at night.

  • An anklet would still provide some relief but necklaces are better because they're closer to where the pain is.

DS has a necklace and it really does help him. There are still days where I can tell his teeth are bothering him so I still use Tylenol occasionally also. You can take the necklace off and wrap it around LOs ankle for the nighttime.
