Somebody just tried to rob us.

So... I was in the bedroom putting Abigail down for the night. I heard the greenhouse door open and thought, "DH, that silly boy and his flowers!"
Then I heard DH cough in the living room. 
So I waited a minute to see if I might have just been hearing things, but then I heard the hinges squeak like somebody was opening the door slowly.

I yelled for DH, told him, and he went outside with the rifle.
Being dark, he couldn't see, but we heard somebody walking through the woods like they were trying to get away quietly.

I mean, it's nothing like the girl whose house was robbed recently, but still... A lot of work has gone into that greenhouse and our business.

Anyway, we'll be getting "No Trespassing" signs, so we can at least send somebody to jail next time.

SCARY!!! I am used to living in a city and now I live in bum fvck nowhere Rhode Island. I am terrified that someone is gonna come in our house or we're gonna get axed murdered by the crazies out here. I am glad you're safe though.

Scary! I'm always so freaked when J is at work and it's just me and the boys. But question, do you have to have that sign? I thought you could send someone to jail regardless. It's your property, nobody should be there without your permission anyway.

This is why I have 2 big dogs.  A squirrel can't get within 20' of our house without one of them going off.

Assuming he's right, DH says that if you have a sign, it becomes criminal domestic trespass-- a felony, as opposed to domestic trespass-- a misdemeanor.

Anyway, while we were waiting for the deputy, a four wheeler went down the road. Deputy said he'd chase the four wheeler down to try and find out what they were doing. I mean, if you're out at 11:30 pm on a four wheeler, you're probably up to something.

That could be. As soon as I said it I realized I was thinking civil, not criminal, anyway.

That sucks. I would be installing some kind of alarm. They sell cheap ones at radio shack that you can set up on your own. Dh's motorcycle got stolen the other day. It's so not cool when people think they have the right to take things you work hard for!
