I certainly want to be a good mom and get great photos.
Where have you gone?
I like natural, not "propped" pictures, just my LO in her normal/beautiful natural state.
Should I go to the mall or hire an independant photographer? Does it really make a difference?
What have you done?
THANKS!!!
Re: So we have been taking our own photos...When to do professional?
I think you answered your own question. Independent. A lot will go to you (I know I go to clients) so LO will be at ease in her own home.

We haven't had any pro pics done so far but I really want to for his 1st birthday. Since it's before Christmas, we will also do family shots for holiday cards. I contacted our wedding photographer and they said they'd be willing to do it. It's like $200 but it's unlimited time at the location of our choice, 2 photographers, 5 outfit changes, and the DVD of all edited images. We'll do his pics with props, etc, then family shots, then save the cake smash pics for last. I figure it's worth the splurge since we haven't done any pro yet. And I know the photographers are really creative. They primarily do wedding photography but they're always excited to try new stuff.
I would go independent. But, I do also want to know how your quality of motherhood is dependent upon the type of photos you have of your kid. We've never done pro pics (granted we're hobbyist photographers and have invested tons of time and $$ into our hobby). Some people can't afford pro pics, that doesn't make them bad parents, just like everyone who gets pro pics isn't necessarily a good parent.
