I desparately want to put DS in a twin sized toddler loft bed that we found at Ikea today. It just doesn't fit in his room if we put DC#2 in there with a crib. But it has occurred to me that ANY bed that we upgrade to is not going to fit (unless we get rid of the armoire) because twin beds are just standard sized (length).
So, now I am wondering how long DS will be comfortable sleeping in his crib/toddler bed. He is 3 1/2 with still some room to grow on a crib mattress. Do you think we might get another year? Two years?
I so wish we were rich and could move out of our two bedroom house :-( This situation has me so stressed out!
Re: What is the oldest your child was comfortable in a toddler sized bed?
if he still has room he'll be fine. My son is 4.5 and very tall - he would not have room... but the average kid would. I have a friend who's 6yo daughter is still in a toddler bed.
she's fairly small and likes it - so they have kept it.
if you can wait until he's about 5yo you could get bunk twin beds if you are still in that space.
I hear ya - we have a small house and the twins room will not fit 2 twin beds.... so i'm praying i can keep at least one of them in a toddler bed until they are old enough to be in bunk beds... which i wouldn't feel comfortable until about 5yo.
We moved DD from her toddler bed when she was a little over 3, mostly because we need the crib for this baby. However, she's crazy tall for her age, and she still fit, but now that she's in her twin bed, i can't imagine how she was comfy in the toddler bed.
FWIW, we bought the canwood junior loft bed, and they have dressers and bookshelves that go under the bed to help save space in the room.
mine are in toddler beds and i don't see them outgrowing them in the next year or so. they're average height, and will be 4 in december.
i also need to wait as long as possible to move them out of toddler beds, because the only way we'll be able to fit three kids in one room is with bunk beds. which i am putting off as long as possible.
