the victorian mansion takes a lifetime...and then the 2 year old destroys it on the daily..
so you take it away and replace it with a wooden melissa and doug one...
OMG, LOL. I bought the big pool one with a slide, a school bus and the take along school which I don't think needs to get put together. I almost got the summer home but skipped it and am now very glad.

I am in love with all of their stuff- but omg. the pieces are really for older kids..like- 5. we got the RV for xmas and I thought it'd be ok, if I held onto the really little pieces (cell phone, groceries, etc..) and they STILL had the freaking beds/ bicycles/ gas tanks dissected and missing in days...
sad.
but the zoo= and the farm and the vet clinic!!! I WANT them! they better be interested when they're older, because I sure am.

Funny you should say that, because my friend Char and I spent almost an hour "sorting" some of her Playmobil stuff. She's got TONS because she's got 4 kids and is a preschool teacher. We had a very good time and both of us are over 40.
She's got the school AND the farm AND parts of the zoo AND the hospital AND the princess castle AND some castles and pirates and....

It can take awhile if you get a big item, but my DH and DD love to do it together. She got the Pirate Ship two years ago and they spent an afternoon putting it together/playing with it.
My sister gave the suggestion of super-glueing it together after assembling to keep it from falling apart.
We have a bunch that were given to DS- I think it is 6 sets, pieces all dumped in one box, with some instructions/box pictures, and may or may not have all the pieces. MH about killed me when I gave it to DS, needless to say, it is slightly put together, and he just has fun with all the people and accessories. So be careful to keep the disassembled sets separated.
Depends--if it's a younger kid I might assemble & take the tiny pieces & hide until they are older. But in my case, we've always assembled together. My girls have a completely random bunch of them but they loved the zoo, pirate ship & princess/fairy stuff best. I will say we bought a Melissa & Doug wooden castle for them to use the princess Playmobil stuff with.

This is why I buy very small Playmobil sets. There are plenty of pieces in them already.
We assemble them together.

In my experience, SuperGlue just slides right off the plastic that Playmobil is made of.
