Someone responded to my girl name poll below saying she didn't like Eden "anymore" and I was wondering if it's because it's becoming popular? That doesn't seem to be the case, based on the SS site (#180), but maybe it's a regional thing?
I happened to meet an Eden the other day (age 20-ish) and the name really stood out to me. Never met or even heard of another in my life. DH knew a male Eden growing up, but otherwise he's never heard it.
Re: Eden = popular?
Its not very popular here either. I have met maybe 1 Eden and she was aroung my age. I think its a good name too.

I'm going to chock this up to regional dialect, as I don't think this would be a widespread issue. I never hear Peyton pronounced that way.
Have to disagree with you there...for us, there is a family significance as well...Eaton is a family surname, and though I don't care for it, I think Eden is a nice substitute. I see what you're saying about Paradise/Eden, but I think Paradise trumps Eden big time in the stripper name dept.

Life is beautiful!
OP I love the name Eden and it's not trashy nor does it sound like a stripper name.
My thoughts exactly.
I have never met an Eden IRL.

Believe me, I'm not into religious ties either, but that part just isn't significant to me.

This post makes me laugh. I've known a few strippers in my day and none of them is clever enough (or has the vocabulary necessary) to come up with the name Eden. In addition, most of the clientele wouldn't "get it" as meaning paradise. Y'all forget that you, and most of the people who post on this board, are much better educated than most strippers and people who frequent strip bars.
OP - I live in the South and it is not popular down here. I agree with another poster who said it has more of a trendy feel than anything, and that is why people might not care for it.
I went to school with an Eden...she would be about 30-ish now. I did not have the best experience with her so I never liked the name.
Then my SIL and BIL named their daughter Eden this past spring. My niece is super adorable (I haven't met her yet...we live quite some distance from them)...so I have a much better association with the name now.
Eden also makes me think of Eden Wood from the show Toddler & Tiaras. Yes, I watch that show. Don't judge me. lol

Not popular, but trendy.
I don't like it. It's not Neveah--but it is a lot like Heaven. It's a word that historically hasn't been often used as a girl's name.

Always thought I'd be a "mom of many"--now just hoping to be a "mom of one or two more!"
I have twins girls and the older one is named Eden. It means delightful in Hebrew and the sweet girl lives up to her name. I usually call her Edie.
I know 3 other Eden, none of whom I have met.
It's trendy, not popular...yet.
I don't like it.

I only know one Eden and she is just a few years old and the daughter of a Baptist minister who wanted a biblical-type name. (Their son's name is Corbin.) I don't think it's overly popular.
