First I want to say thank you to all of you for the thoughts and prayers that were given to me from the other thread i posted.
Well the doctor called and said that the first set of results from my amnio came back saying that our does have Downs Syndrome. In a way, I feel a lot calmer since i know the results. I am praying for strength to help me and my husband get thru this, Our son will be such a blessing and a joy to us.
At this point, what do we do to prepare ourselves for this new chapter in our lives, whether its a support, financial resources, or anything?
Re: My Amnio results are in...
Congratulations on your baby boy!
These are some suggestions for places to start
https://downsyndromepregnancy.org/
https://www.ndss.org/
also www.kellehampton.com her 2nd daughter, Nella, was unepectedly born with Down Syndrome. I do give warning, that her birth story is emotionally graphic and will bring you to tears. Make sure you are prepared to read it.
I agree!
First, Congratulations on your baby boy!!
Second, welcome to the club you never thought you wanted to be a member of! You don't feel that way right now, but eventually you will.
All of the resources listed are great! I love "my shtub" she is a great writer and a neat person overall. The babycenter board was a life saver for me, you should check it out.
We joined our local Ds group and that made such huge difference to us. Most are doing their local Ds walks right now. I know ours is Oct 9th. I won't lie, that first walk was tough, I cried a lot and was ready to leave shortly after we got there. But, we stayed and made friends and it was an eye opening day for sure.
Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!

Ditto everything above! www.ndss.org can help you find your local group, I have a ton of links on my personal blog, including the one to "my shtub". (LOVE that one. And Kelle's. And so many other great ones out there!)
Some uplifting books are Gifts and Gifts 2, and more practical is "Babies with Down Syndrome."
The babycenter group (both the regular DS group and pregnancy group) were HUGE lifelines for me, and continue to be.
Good luck, and welcome to the club!
First of all, congratulations!!
I didn't know Miles had DS until he was born, so it's great that you will have some extra time to get informed and learn what to (and NOT) to expect.
Everyone else has listed great resources for you. I guess what I would say is to let yourself feel WHATEVER you need to in the coming months, and don't feel guilty about any of it. We all went through some kind of grieving process, and that's completely normal. And good, actually.
Now, as for your little man, he is going to be the BEST thing that happens to you. I promise. Miles makes my life complete, and reminds me of the simple joys of life every day. Everyone loves him, and he loves everyone.
Feel free to vent and ask any questions on here!
