We have been only bathing her about once a week in the little dish pan we got from the hospital. I put a big beach towel down on floor in her room, put filled pan on it then bathe her, usually DH holds her and I wash with washcloth.
But now that she is getting bigger and a little more steady I want to start using the actual baby bath tub thingy. But do you put it in bath tub to fill up and give her bath in bathtub? to me that would be difficult bending over and such.
or do you but the tub on like table or floor and fill it up and bath? but the how do you remove water... I am clueless...advice please
also what is the best way to clean in between their toes and in belly button?
Re: how do you bathe?
We've got this tub: https://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Precious-Planet-Whale-Tub/dp/B0018Z8CN8
And it just sits nicely in the kitchen sink. SOOOOO easy to bathe LO. :-)
we have been using the baby bath since his cord stump fell off.
We usually fill it up and put it on the counter and bathe him in that. I also lie a towel on the counter w/ his towel over it. I then put him on that when he is done
For the past few nights I have been keeping the baby bathtub in the real bathtub (empty of course). I then lie him on the bathmat covered in a towel & his towel. Its a bit awkward reaching over the tub but I find that its less of a mess & easier to drain the tub
We have this and it sits on our kitchen sink too. I've been bathing him in this since he was 2 weeks old and it's so nice because he's at my height and I can use the sprayer on the sink to wash his hair and fill the tub.
When I was in the hospital they said the best place to bathe baby is in the kitchen because it tends to be the warmest room in the house.
He gets a bath every night, per pedi's instructions. We only use soap on his hair, genitals and bottom per pedi. We let him soak in the water, which he loves, and wipe him down with a wet washcloth and no soap.

We use this tub- https://www.target.com/p/The-First-Years-Sure-Comfort-Newborn-to-Toddler-Tub/-/A-623913
We set it over the kitchen sink. Makes it easy to drain it and no bending over while we bathe him! We use the mesh sling that comes with it with enough water so that LO's bottom and back are in the water. That keeps him warm enough to make him content.
I just wipe out his belly button with a washcloth. The other night I noticed he was accumulating some fuzz between his toes, so we used wet q-tips to clean there. Worked great!
We've only used the baby bath a few times. But, when we did we tried various things. Yes, putting it in the tub makes it more difficult to reach over, but I found it was easier for rinsing her off because I put a little bit of water in the bottom of the tub, too. Up on the counter was way easier on the back (fill it up in tub, then transfer it), then after she was dried or handed off or whatever we just put it in the tub and unplugged it. Ours wouldn't fit in any of our sinks.
However this is not how we bathe her (and we only used the tub maybe 3 or 4 times max). We actually get in the bath tub with her (or take her into the shower with us). She is so much way happier in there than she ever was in the baby tub, and it's much more fun for us, too.
We gave our LO a sponge bath once the first week home, then started with real baths the second week. We put her baby tub in our tub, put a couple of inches of water in it, and bathe her. We do a full bath with soap every other day and a water only bath the other days. No matter what we apply lotion after to keep her skin from drying out. When we are done, we empty her baby tub by opening the stopper in it (it has a little drain hole) and turn it upside down overnight, just to get all the water out.
This really helps our daughter relax before bed and has helped us get into a routine.
I got the "whale of a tub" and I just fill it up at the kitchen sink and I bathe her right there at the sink. It's easier for me and then I can just pop the plug and the water drains right down the sink.
I have a towel layed out on the counter next to the sink and I lay her down on it after the bath and dry her off.
I just use a soft cloth to clean her. You'll find there is no special way to really clean the toes and belly button- just clean them like you would clean yours, but much gentler.

I would try to put it in the sink if it would fit in ours (kitchen sink). I put it in the bathtub and did the same with DD#1. Its not that awkward and its usually pretty quick.
I must add though - I remember with DD#1, when she was transitioning to the normal tub, people on here were saying that their LO's were totally freaked out by the big bathtub and were having a hard time getting them used to it. My DD didn't have any issues with it and loved the bath. Whether it was just the mere fact that she loves the bath or because I had been bathing her in the baby tub in the big tub she may have been used to it. I remember reading that the large tub can be intimidating to LOs. Just something to think about when considering where to bathe your LO.

Here We Go Again!!
My kids shower with me. My toddler and I get in. I shower while she plays, then bathe her. Then DH comes and gets toddler and brings in baby, and I sit down and bathe her. DH gets her, I finish and get out :-)
Plus, this way I can trick DH into getting them dressed for bed hehe
