I just wanted to post this for anyone who is thinking about switching care providers. I know it isn't always possible to find supportive providers but it is worth the time to try.
Old doc - recommend RCS if baby is larger than 8 pounds / New doc - will never induce or schedule RSC for a "big baby"
Old doc - demanded I schedule RSC for my due date / New doc - no problem with me going to 42 1/2 weeks
Old doc - must come to L&D if I have 8 contractions within 2 hours / New doc - please labor at home as long as I am comfortable
These are just a few of the reasons I am so glad I've switched. I was having really bad anxiety and trouble sleeping with all of the interventions I was going through before. I am AMA (42) as well as attempting a VBAC but this new practice treats me like I am a healthy person going to deliver a healthy baby. I feel so much more at ease and am looking forward to my birth experience. Good luck to everyone!
Re: Old doctor vs. new doctor
great news
are we living parallel lives? i'm 42, have almost a 4 year old, wanting a vbac and thinking about switching OBs.
i like my ob just fine, they don't treat me with kid gloves, and are, for the most part, pretty liberal. but they do have a few policies that could get in the way of me attempting a vbac. unfortunately, all the docs i checked into have very similar policies to my ob practice, or they aren't on my insurance, or they won't take women after 20 weeks.
i'm glad you like your new doc ... i am going to hope for the best.
