Babies: 6 - 9 Months

If you won the lottery what would you do with the money?

All of my kids, nieces and nephews college would be taken care of.

All bills paid off and we'd move to the bigger house we're trying to get. I would keep our current home as a place for my IL's to stay when they drive from Arizona. I'd pay off my parents home too.

I would buy a home in the Garden District of New Orleans. We go to NO every year and that's where DH and I spent our honeymoon.

I would donate money to the police department I used to patrol for to make sure their equipment was updated and had enough for every officer.

I think I would take the front page out of the paper and have it read:
The Following People May Now Kiss My Asss:
**then I'd just list names.

Your turn!

Re: If you won the lottery what would you do with the money?

  • Change my name and phone numbers. Everyone we know would pop out of the woodwork begging for money.

    Pay off all bills.

Quit my job. H would do the same.

We'd open a BBQ brew pub (H smokes meat, I bake, my mom's a restaurant manager, H's best friend brews his own beer... we got it covered).

Have a better house built. Not really bigger, but not a 3 story townhouse. A small ranch house on an acre or two.

    Fully outfit the new house.

Get a new car. Mine is too small now.

Squirrel the rest away for the time being. Let the dust settle and figure out what to do next.

  • I would pay off all of the bills including the mortgage and auto loans.  We would most likely give our current house to my brother but that is after we bought some land and had our new house built.  Nothing fancy just something with a couple extra bedrooms and more square footage.  I love my current vehicle so we would just keep it and pay it off.  I cannot see a point in going out and buying a really pricey car for someone to wreck into me and total it out.  We would prob take a couple really nice vacations to places we would not be able to go to normally too.

I would set up a college fund for my DD and depending on the amount I won I would either pay off my parents and IL's bills or just give them money to do what they wanted to do with it.  And I would also donate some money to help find a cure for cancer.  My mom battled it last year and won and I would like to help others that are going through that or find a cure to help them not have to suffer through it.

Oh and of course number 1 I would Quit Working.

  • We would give a lump sum to every family unit (siblings and parents).  Everyone has different needs so this seems most fair.

We would plan one huge family vacation.

We would buy a house on the beach big enough for everyone to be there.

    We would move.

I would get a salon hairdryer for my house.  I would also get a personal shopper to update my wardrobe...after my tummy tuck.

  • I would buy a house for my parents, my in laws and my sister.

Then I would buy my DREAM house. Go shopping and buy everything I want without looking at prices and donate some money to our church as well as some charities.

Save a big chunk to make sure my DD is taken care of for the rest of her life.

  • Of course, this is assuming we'd be playing the lottery. ;)

We'd adopt a few children internationally. Stash half a million for when we move (in 4 or 5 years) and for our kids' college. Give the rest away.

Holy crap, that'd be awesome. BUT. We're never gonna play the lottery. :-/

Mar '12: Homestudy interrupted by change in Uganda requirements - where do we go from here?
After searching and searching, back with Uganda but with our homestudy agency's program.
    Homestudy complete July 19
USCIS I-600A submitted July 20. Biometrics appointments arrived Aug 17; fingerprinted Aug 21; 171H received Sept 25th. On the wait list Oct 1st: #18. By Jan 25th, we're #13!
    Come home, baby A!
  • First, I'd set aside a large chunk for DS and DD...college, weddings, money for a car or home.

We just bought a new house, so I'd pay off the new house and the old house. Then I'd pay to have everything done in the new house (windows, kitchen, bathrooms, finishing the basement).

Next, I'd want to plan a special vacation.

And we'd want to put some money aside for our siblings and niece/nephews.

  • Pay off the house and buy a new one.

    Pay off all our bills.

Stash a big chunk for DDs college & wedding fund.

Buy my parents & my in-laws houses so they could be near DD.

Fix up my grandma's beach house for the family to continue to use (or just buy a new one)

    Take some great trips.

    Donate to some great causes.

Let DH open his dream BBQ restaurant.

Invest/save the rest (if there was any left!) to help us live.

  • Pay off all of our bills, mortgages, student loans. Get DH a new truck, give a good percentage to our church....live comfortably. Take a nice vacation with both sides of our families., separately that is.

  • DH and I would build the house we've always wanted to build on our land, complete with a storm cellar and a sewing room for me :) I'd sew all day when I wasn't going to college for interior design.
DH would build more greenhouses and really kick off his business.
    We'd have another baby.
We'd buy a vehicle (or two) that cranks on the first try.
We'd save some for Abigail's college.
We'd probably give away a scholarship to a high school student. DH used to talk about wanting to do that.
If anything was left, we'd save it.
