for some reason I think of animal fats when I hear tryglycerides. I don't know why. I just know mine were high, and my vegetarian roommates (at the time) were extremely low - and she was like 60 pounds heavier than me.
Triglycerides are a part of your cholesterol. It measures the amount of fat in your blood. As PPs have said, a level of over 150 is considered high. Things that can increase your triglycerides include high fat, high carb diets and conditions such as diabetes.
Cycle 7: BFP 1-17-12, Missed Miscarriage at 8w6d (measured 7w2d, no HB), D&C 2-29-12
Cycle 9: BFP 5-3-12:EDD 1-24-13 It's a girl! Born 12-27-12
I usually explain it as the type of cholesterol that comes from sugars (carbs, etc) - elevated often in diabetics. Low is generally good, occasionally it can be a sign of autoimmune disorder, but there are must more specific tests for this.
