Thyroid issues

Today at my yearly checkup with my OB/GYN, she noticed that my thyroid felt a little swollen.  She proceeded to send me to the lab for bloodwork after my exam. I have noticed that my stomach has been queasy for several days now and 2 days ago I threw up after eating a piece of Hershey's sundae pie.  I NEVER get sick like that, even if I overeat so that has me thinking that the way I've been feeling is related to my thyroid being swollen.  I have to follow up with my PCP after receiving the lab results.  I'm wondering if any of you ladies have experienced something similar and what the end result was.  Thanks in advance for sharing!

Re: Thyroid issues

  • I'm hypothyroid, the best thing to do is depending on what the results show is to link up with a good endocrinologist.  I have quite a few people in my family who have had to have their thyroid removed because it became so swollen that it looked like an orange on the side of their neck sticking out.

  • I have Graves disease (hyperthyroidism). Like PP mentioned, if you have a thyroid issue, make sure to find a good endocrinologist. I never had my thyroid removed but was on low dose meds during pregnancy.
