Anyone start supplimenting with formula this late?

I think I have about a 2, maybe 3 week, freezer stash left at the rate I am using it up to get enough to send with DS to daycare. I was going to ask the peditrician for advice on Monday at our appointment but I was wondering if anyone else started supplimenting this late in the game? I am worried he is going to be more resistant to switching to formula since he is older, is that dumb? I get really anxious that he won't drink it and it will be a huge problem. I probably can pump about 2 bottles and he usually drinks 3 while I am gone. Do I need to start working it in slowly now or will he do fine with half and half when the time comes?

  • we started supplementing about a month ago with 1/4 formula in the bottles, same reason, my stash was getting low.  Now we are up to 3/4 formula.  The slower transition worked for us because it gave her system time to adapt.  There was some loose poop and then some constipation, and it's all evened out now.  LO didn't bat an eyelash at the taste difference.  And she will still nurse on the boob in the early morning and then happily take a bottle with 3/4 formula at daycare.

  • We just started supplementing a couple of weeks ago because like you, I send him to daycare with 3 bottles but I'm only pumping 2ish.  My stash was getting really low so I started adding an ounce of formula to his bottles so he would get used to it.  He hasn't had a problem with it, and I even gave him a bottle of straight formula the other day and he drank it no problem.  Now he gets whatever I pumped the day before and I make up the difference with formula.  It works perfectly.

  • My LO started daycare 3 weeks ago and about 2-3 weeks before that I started supplementing one bottle of formula a day.  He had a fine transition and does fine with the formula.  I do use Similac Sensitive due to his tummy issues and gas problems.  At daycare I send him with 3 bottles (2 breastmilk and 1 formula)  I usually have them give the formula for his lunch.  I am only able to pimp 2 bottles a day at work and usually another after he goes to sleep which we use for his cereal and oatmeal
