This is my first time posting on a board, I usually just read but I need to get some outside opinions. My husband and I have been trying to decided on names for our baby, and the one name we both love for a girl is Caroline. I knew a Caroline growing up and our friendship ended in a bitter way. Should this deter me from using the name? It sounds crazy, but I don't know if I want that association. I'd love to hear all of your thoughts!  Thanks :-)

    Nah, I don't think that should be a problem unless you work with your former friend or something like that.  I love Caroline!

    I think you answered your own question, you said you LOVE the name. I think if you had negative feelings about the name then it wouldn't appeal to you but it does...so I say go with it Smile

    LOVE Caroline! So pretty!  To answer your question, once your DD is born, the only Caroline you'll associate the name with is your DD.

    It would depend on how close I was to the friend, how long ago it was, if we had any continuing contact, etc. I wouldn't immediately say no.

    L - 1/2013
    S - 3/2015

    the only caroline you'll think about after your DD is born will be her, so go ahead and use it

    You won't ever be able to know in advance, but my guess is that the negative association will fade, and the only association that will remain is your daughter. If you both absolutely love the name, I think it would be fine!

    If you like it - use it.  I think it's a lovely name.  And once you name your daughter that, she'll be the only Caroline that you think of!
