Literally sick over this...

The breaking news here tonight says that 11-month-old twins were left alone in the bath this afternoon and found unresponsive.  Both passed away shortly thereafter at our local hospital.

Never, ever leave a baby alone in or near water.  This tragedy was totally preventable.  <<sigh>>

  • So sad! Why anyone would leave babies alone in a bathtub (for any amount of time) is beyond me. It is sickening, and definitely preventable :(
I remember a story from a few months back where a mom left the bath to check FB and her child drowned - made me sick.

  • Why??

I don't even like turning to the counter to grab a towel, which is 2 feet away.  I could never imagine walking out of the room.

  • That is horrifying. When DS was younger I was sitting next to the tub while he was playing (I NEVER leave him alone in the bath) and he slipped under the water. I was right there to grab him, but seeing him go under and flailing around actually made me vomit. After I had him out of the tub and all dried off, I just was sick to my stomach. He was totally fine, since I was right there. In fact, he was not even that upset. It took me a lot longer to recover just from seeing him going under the water. I cannot imagine what anyone would be thinking, leaving children alone in a tub.

  • I can remember sitting on the edge of a swimming pool with my husband and our daughter was about six months old at the time.  We were on vacation with family so there were literally like 15 of us sitting around the pool.  My daughter leaned forward and fell into the water.  She barely had time to get wet before we pulled her out but that was a very scary thing to see.

This is very sad.  I can't imagine.
