I feel like with my 1st pregnancy I just HAD to come up with names ASAP. There was something about it that felt so urgent. This time around, not so much. Once in a while I go on the Baby Names board for inspiration but I don't like most of what I see there.
Anyone else kind of clueless at this point or do you already know what you want?
Re: Baby names?
We know what we want for a girl - Joanna Scott.
We still have to come up with a first name for a boy. We already know his middle names (I didn't want two, but it's the only way to make me and H both happy) - James and my maiden name.
eta: We are tossing around Elliot but haven't committed. My top picks are Julian and Cameron, but H doesn't like either of those. He liked Cameron at one point (in fact, he was the one who suggested it), so there's a chance he'll come around to that again if the baby turns out to be a boy.
my read shelf:
The only two my H has suggested during this pregnancy other than James (which is his middle name and was his grandfather's name) have had to do with whiskey! Jameson and Arron. He was like "what about Aaron.. but spelled Arron?" Me: Isn't that the name of a scotch? Him: yes, but I don't like it BECAUSE of the scotch. Yeah, right!
We already have a dog named Bailey. lol
Girl name is set: Mallory Lou (Lou was both of my grandmothers middle name)
Boy names: I really like Derrick and Caleb, and would want to use Harris as the middle name, that is my dad and papaw middle name.
DH will not even discuss names until after we know what the sex, he is no fun at all!
We've had our girl name for about 7-8 years sooooo, we're set on that. We are clueless when it comes to a boy. I want James in there somewhere after my Father who passed away in May. Two weeks ago we had decided on 'Jameson' now we're both unsure about it.
Good thing that time is on our side.
Side note: My good friend in high school actually left the hospital with the name 'Baby Girl Johnson' because her parents couldn't agree on a name! LOL! We knew her as 'Brandy' but when we were all getting our driver's licenses, and she wasn't, her secret was revealed.
Hysterical.
We haven?t committed to anything yet but we are leaning towards William if it?s a boy. After my DH grandfather and the priest who married us and has been a close family friend for over 40 years . Besides for that we haven?t really talked about it. But we both agree the baby no matter the sex will have a ?formal? name of some sort.
Seriously? That is funny and really sad, but mostly funny.
We know...
Girl-- Selah Grace
Boy-- Asher Noam
DH won't even discuss names with me at this point.
I told him that I really like the name Ethan one night and he shot it down. But he was in a bad mood then. So, I'm hoping once the time comes for us to discuss them, he'll like it. It's my favorite boy name so far, Ethan Charles (Charles is my dad's name).
My sister has been giving me name ideas as well. For a girl, she mentioned the name Shiloh. I kind of like that one. But we'll see.
I have a feeling we're having a boy, but we'll see in November for sure!
So clueless here, but I'm not stressed about it. I downloaded a name app for my phone and play with it on the subway sometimes. I made it through the top 1000 girl names and only found a dozen to put in the "don't hate it" category. The problem is that every single name brings up some association in my mind, and none is good enough for my kid!
My only steadfast rule is that the name cannot be in the top 50 for any of the past five years. My name had a short-lived trendy run, and I hate that (a) I know so many other girls my age with the same name (five on my high school field hockey team alone), and (b) that people can easily approximate my age sight unseen by my name. Ditto to all of the Jessicas, Jennifers, Megans, Tiffanys, Sarahs, Kellys, Heathers, Angelas, Melissas, Amys, and Stephanies likely born in the late 70s-early 80s.
We know.
Juliet Elizabeth for a girl
Jack Elliott for a boy
And we don't have any J names or anything, it just worked out that those are the names we like because they both flow well with our last name.

My Blog
This. We are clueless on names for a girl.
BigApple, which app?
We're so very stuck with names. We both sort of like Laurel for a girl, but aren't dead set on it. I also like Isobel, or I guess Isabel, but H is wishy-washy on that.
H wants to name a son after one of several characters from the fantasy novels we both have read. His list currently includes Brogan and Khendon. I'm very much against Khendon. I may be able to warm up to Brogan, but I'm not sure.
It took us forever to name our cats, and both of their names changed within a few days. We're doomed.
I have the perfect names for you. For a girl Phoebe and for a boy Phoebo!
Pretty names! If we have a boy he'll be Asher Lowell.
LOL!!! I thought I was going with Kevin or Britney???
Should've been, but I was watching Friends and it was that episode.
We've been rattling off a lot of names...
For a girl, names in the running are Harper, Olivia, Natalie, Avery.
For a boy, he LOVES Rocco (a family name), Andrew, Joshua, Sawyer, Bennett.
I'm not sold on Rocco, and I've suggested using it as a MN, but he isn't loving it. I told him he's gotta really sell me on it!
Gisa,
He said NO and that I was "crazy"
Last time I wanted to pick a name like right away. This time, I am not so antsy to get it picked out. I look at names around at different sites but I am in no rush this time. If it is a boy, heaven help us because choosing one boy name was difficult (Maxwell has the name he has because one day I got tired of my DH wobbling back and fourth on the name and I went to Michaels and bought all the paint and the wood parts and everything and made a name sign and hung it on the door of the nursery, then he couldn't argue anymore
)
We do still have our girl name from last time: Anabelle Rose (NN Annie) but I am not 100% sure on that right now.
I will probably just wait until we know if we are having a boy or a girl and then worry about it. :-)
If it is a girl- Mabel Jean. I know people love it or hate it but we love it. It is a family name.
Boy- who knows??
We are not telling family or friends are names, but I am happy to share on the bump.
We've picked Sophie Rose for a girl. (Sophie after my grandmother who's first initial was also S and Rose for his mom.
For a boy, Owen George. (Owen because we like it and George for both of our grandfathers.)
I think we finally agreed on some names last night. Benjamin for a boy and Victoria for a girl.
Up until this point, the only thing I really knew was that I wanted Benjamin as a boy name. I have been bringing it up to DH every once and a while just saying that I really liked that name. I had absolutely no ideas on what I wanted for a girls name. He told me last night that we can use Benjamin for a boy if we can use Victoria for a girl. I actually really like Victoria so I was fine with that.
Last time I was opposite, I knew what I wanted for a girl, but had no ideas for a boy. hmmm, I wonder if that is my mothers intuition telling me what I am having
