Rupture? Possibly really dumb question ahead!

I was just wondering if any of you have heard of uterine rupture if LO is too active.  My last c-section was in June 2010 (15 months ago) and I'm scheduled for the second one next week because my doctor doesn't feel safe about a VBAC (neither do I).  Any words of wisdom about uterine rupture (is that how it's called?!?)?

Uterine rupture is EXTREMELY rare and in all of my research, I have never seen a single instance of rupture that was attributed to baby movement.

Movement of baby doesn't affect uterine rupture because the baby is surrounded by the amniotic sac which cushions baby from outside sources as well as cushions you (and your uterus) from baby. Uterine rupture happens when part of the uterus thins out too much and starts to tear, uterine dissonance is actually more likely to happen than a complete rupture which like the PP said is very rare. Also uterine rupture can happen in any pregnancy scarred uterus or not, there is just a tiny point percentage more of it happening in a scarred uterus. Rupture can happen but you're more likely to have many other pregnancy complications than a rupture so I would say, while always having it in the back of your mind, keep that low on your list of concerns!

This.  Don't let this worry you.

One more thing, although rare, my OB said he has seen well over 100 ruptures and never had a case where the mom or baby were significantly harmed. Of course they got medical care right away because usually this was during a VBAC, not during pregnancy but it reassured me that even if I was part of this 1% that there is still a chance everything would be ok.

I was told during my second emergency c-section by the attending OB that I had ruptured my uterus (although my regular OB later told me it was more like a tear than a full blown rupture).  Either way, it was because of intense contractions not the baby's movement.  I was trying to VBAC and was very aware this was a possibility, just never thought it would happen to me.  I don't think there is much to worry about regarding ruptures during a RCS. I have a thinned out side on my uterus because of an operation I had on it when I was 15.  I was also told that I would have to have a c-section a week or more early because they were afraid my uterus would rupture from intense contractions.  Good luck with your c-section   I still have a ways to go but I am getting very excited and anxious at the same time

My dr. Said the risk of uterine rupture only comes from actually contracting. My dr. Is comfortable letting me get close to my due date, but since I live 40 minutes from the hospital she said if I were to go into labor on my own I need to get in ASAP.
