Soft-shell helmet (protective, not molding)

Has anyone purchased one of these for your LO? DS has finally developed some opinions on things and he will now throw himself backwards, hitting his head on the floor, when he is frustrated. He also will do this if he is tired of sitting (He has low tone).

We have already been down the cranial molding helmet route, so I am kind of helmetted out, but I am worried about him banging his head on the hard floor. I know all toddlers get some bumps and bruises, but where do I draw the line?

All thoughts, opinions, and experiences are welcome! TIA

I have no advice, but wanted to let you know that you are not alone in the bumps and bruises camp.

LA is at that rough and tumble toddler stage and has no fear.  She loves to play tug with the dog, but since he can tug harder (combined with her TIGHT grip), she ends up falling a lot, which she thinks is hilarious.  There are times when I have actually thought about putting her horse riding helmet on when she is in the house.  Wood floors are hard!

My problem was he cried and crid and cried when we put it on him. If you little one has worn helmets before, this may not be a problem.

I should add my son is just over a year so you would have to make sure it fit yours, if this is the type of thing you are thinking of.

Thanks ladies! There is one we can order through the hospital that would be sized for him (which is a concern because he has a big head!). I will talk it over with the PT. Thanks for the commiseration. Hopefully our kiddos will soon grow past this!!
