I believe its $90/month in the Boston area, PLUS a $50 registration fee.
I got a groupon for a single month membership, and honestly the class just isn't that good. I get that they might be trying to teach/challenge the kids, but treating 2 year olds like 3/4 year olds just isn't going to help anyone.

Really? I have the exact opposite feeling. I think we're going to be done with Gymboree when DD turns two because I don't think it's challenging enough for her. All of the things they teach (high/low, stop/go, in/out, up/down) she already knows. Other than that, they sing songs and do bubbles and a parachute. I'm not sure how that's treating kids like 3/4 year olds.
that's why we quit - he gets more out of park play dates than he ever did at gymboree. it just wasn't challenging and it was crowded, chaotic, and expensive. and the teachers speak to the kids in a way that's really patronizing (at least, that's how ours was - like the pp said: they're franchised.)

Wow, Gymboree is expensive other places!! We pay $59 a month and there was no registration fee. We do one class and 2-3 open gyms a week so I feel it is worth it. My daughter loves it!
In Atlanta it is $80 a month. I loved it when we did it through a Groupon. Being around other kids really helped her learn to crawl/pull up/walk, but I just can't justify the cost. I would love to do it mostly for the open gym time. The class was good but being able to climb all over eveything would be awesome for her.

Mermaid, if you are going to the Gymboree near Decatur, you can do an option that is just Open Gym for $35/month. This is what we do right now. We also did the groupon, but I couldn't justify $80/month. I'm still debating whether we will keep doing open gym, or if we will stop for awhile and then pick it back up once the weather gets too cold to be outside as much.
DS definitely gets as much out of open gym as he got out of the classes.

No way! That is awesome. I will have to check that out especially for the winter. PM me and maybe we can hook up at an open gym.

Gymboree here is $70/month (Northern Virginia/D.C.).
We do Little Gym, not Gymboree and that works out to $90ish a month but I liked it better.
