CDs and Circumcision?

Can you use CDs while LOs circumcision heals?  If not, what's the reason?  TIA!

  • I did. DS's aftercare instructions were to put Neosporin on gauze. That's what I did, and had no issues with the diapers (mostly prefolds, a few AIOs thrown in).

If you're worried about getting stuff on the diapers, just use a fleece liner.

Mommy to DD1 (June 2007), DS (January 2010), DD2 (July 2012), and The Next One (EDD 3/31/2015)

Thanks.  I know I had read before that some people use disposables until it heals but I wasn't sure why.  Approximately how long does it take to heal?

  • Our pedi used the Plastibel method which didn't require any vasoline so we used our CDs no problem.  I want to say the little plastic cap fell off before his cord stump, so less than 2 weeks to heal.

  • I used sposies because of the vasaline. You can use fleece liners, but since he came early I didn't have any ready nor the energy to make any.

Thats what we did too but I cut out some fleece liners out of an old fleece blanket we had laying around.

  • People don't always CD because if you get vaseline on your CD's it can ruin them.  Stripping vaseline off CD's can be very difficult.  Either use a fleece liner or posies till the circumsion is healed.  I used fleece liners with no problem.
