starting IUI next cycle

Hi ladies,

 

haven't been around in awhile. A lot has happened. But there is good news. We had our appointment today with our RE to go over test results. He said that yes, my test results showed as we already new that I have pcos, but that because i get my period every month ( thanks to metformin) i do in fact ovulate. ( i thought i didn't) so now this upcoming cycle, i have to test with OPK's and when we get the possitive, have hubby go and drop of the boys, for me to go in. I hope this works! I am very excited.

 

Does anyone have any advice with IUI's? What we can expect??

I am about to begin monitoring for my 2nd IUI, 1st IUI last month was a bust

Are you using clomid or doing natural cycle? I'm doing natural cycle IUI w/ Ovidrel trigger shot. I contact my RE on CD1, and start monitoring around day 5-7 (if you're using clomid, you typically start monitoring days 3-5). During monitoring, I have labwork and an ultrasound until follicle reaches maturity (20mm). Not sure if you're using Ovidrel, but it is not that bad. I was freaking out about it and the size of the needle and everything, but it was not painful at all. The worse part was psyching myself up for it.

My RE does IUI two days in a row, first thing in the morning. So we went in that morning, did the IUI, which is a super quick procedure, it was like 2 minutes max, and then I had to lay on the bed with feet up for 10-15 minutes. Then I was free to go about my day

I was super sore after IUI and pretty much laid in bed all day; I had really severe cramping and nothing helped other then just trying to be still. My last IUI was over the weekend so it worked out well that I was off work, but this cycle I'll be working from home during those 2 days if IUI falls during the week. Definitely take something beforehand, my RE only wanted me to take Tylenol.

Then of course, the hateful 2ww begins! I was also using Crinone, and had some major phantom pregnancy symptoms. But, no dice.

Have you had all of your pre-IUI testing? (HSG, sono saline ultrasound, etc)

good luck to you this time around!!!!!!!!!! No, we aren't using anything but the IUI. He seems to think, we can get pregnant with just the IUI. There is nothing wrong with DH and yes i have pcos, but i ovulate. he just seems to think we need a little help maybe. he said we would do this for 4 cycles and if nothing, then we would talk about IVF. but, i am just happy to be moving forward and doing something about it!

Hello,

I am also doing IUI for the first time with no meds. Just the Ovidrel shot. I am very excited. I am diagnosed with unexplained fretility and I ovulate on my own so I feel good about a natural IUI first. When do you go in? Im going in around Sept 29th...maybe we will be in our 2ww together:) Good Luck
