TTC after 35

I have a question and it's probably a stupid one but...

I am scheduled to go in on 9/27 for BW to make sure I am past ovulation.  From there they will start me taking the estradiol to get ready for the IVF stims.

My question is this:  I should ovulate in the next couple of days. Should I not TTC during this time? I'm sorry if this is a question I should already know the answer to.

TTC since 3/2010. Me 41, DH-49. After 3 years, 6 IUIs and several IVFs we have finally have our beautiful baby girl, born on 11/7/13.

  • TOTALLY not a stupid question. The RE should have told you to abstain or use protection.  You should absolutely not be TTC since you will be starting drugs before you would actually know if you were KU and they don't know what the drugs would do to an embie.

  • Thank you! That is what I thought, because of the meds.  I think they told me this several months ago but not recently and I had this nagging thought in the back of my head that we should not try this week.

Fortunately my stepdaughter is coming to stay the night tonight, so it won't be an issue. Usually I don't say "Fortunately" she is coming to visit, but in this case, since DH doesn't like having sex when she is in the house, (he is way too distracted thinking that she will hear everything), it's a good thing, then we won't be tempted.

You can just imagine how thrilled I was when we first started TTC and she was living with us and is the kind of teenager that Never. Left. The. House.  I blame those early BFNs on her :)
