I had my a/s and 20 week appt. yesterday- the a/s was great, baby looked perfect! (and she's still a girl!) Then at my appt. when they took my BP it was 130/100. My dr. came in and took it again, she said that she didn't want to scare me, but they wanted me to go to the L&D floor for some monitoring and testing. Cue freak out... So DH and I headed to L&D floor and got checked in to the testing area and hooked up to the BP machine and had me sit for about an hour while it took BPs every 5 minutes. Thank goodness, they did go down into "borderline" area- around 130/85ish. They took blood and I'm doing a 24-hr urine. Basically the verdict is that I have have elevated BP which is unusual this early on and will be having a lot closer monitoring the rest of the PG, I will probably have growth scans and NSTs starting at 28 weeks and appts with my dr. every 2 weeks. I have had high BP in the past and have to be very careful with my diet and exercise to keep it normal, so I felt guilty that maybe I did something, but they told me that pregnancy just does this sometimes. We're hoping that it will just stay borderline and not develop into pre-e. I'm trying not to stress too much since right now it's not a big problem but part of me wonders why I can't just be normal for once.
Sorry for such a long post, thanks if you got through all of that! I would love to hear if anyone has had similar experiences!
