I still have weight and this extra belly/pouch that I need to lose. I still look pregnant and don't know what to do to really help get rid of this pouch and belly.
I had a c-section July 22 and I still look pregnant and I am disappointed that I still look like this.
Can anyone recommend exercises or anything that has been helping shed the pounds and belly?
Thanks for helping this desparate girl!
Re: pre-pregnancy weight and shape after c-section
I looked normal and fit most of my old clothes/jeans by about 6 months. I had no time to work out though and I didn't eat the healthiest. When I got pregnant this time (LO was 18 months when I found out) I was 11lbs heavier than my pre-preg weight but fit into my "skinny" jeans from before. I think the weight just re-distributed or something.
ETA: I should say, my family/friends told me I looked the same as I did pre-pregnancy by about 3 months PP. But I didn't feel the same until about 6 months.
THIS.
exactly!
This! Take your time. Eat a good diet, get some exercise and be kind to yourself. I am ten months out and just hit my pre-pregnancy weight and got into my pre-pregnancy jeans. I look great, but it took ten months. Be kind to yourself!
Exactly! I'm 11 months out and just now reached my pre-pregnancy weight. I tried 30 day shred and personally I didn't see any results, but I started weight watchers in June and that has worked really well for me.
Are you nursing? I found that breastfeeding really burned the calories and shrunk the uterus, which can stay enlarged for a bit and make you feel like you are still sporting a belly.
I was very active throughout my pregnancy, which I think helped me bounce back. I gained 23, lost most of it within the first couple months, but still held onto 5-6 pounds for a bit. It takes a while to get back to your old 'shape' even if you have lost the weight. Take it slow with exercise, because those muscles need time to heal! Walking is great...
Cut yourself some slack, though! It has only been a couple of months!
I don't have much advice.. but want you to know you're not alone.. I had my baby a week after you and totally still look pregnant. I gained way too much this time.. and am upset about it.
Last year I did Stroller Strides classes.. they were fun and a real workout.. I am planning to start doing them again... Reading these posts reminds me that I boughht the 30 day shred two years ago when I had my DD!!! Ha ha ha.. still wrapped in plastic I think. Ha ha ha....
I also have to start watchig what I eat.

Proud VBAC, natural birth, breastfeeding, cloth diapering momma!
I started out mega-depressed after having my LO that I still had so much weight to lose. (Something like 40 lbs). I was really tiny pre-pregnancy-- 5'1", 112 lbs, size 4 petite, and my body just freaked out when I got pregnant. I even started gaining weight before I knew I was pregnant.
Anyway, I started running again about two months ago. (My LO is going to be 6 months on October 4th). I had to do other things first before running--yoga, walking, etc., because my knees couldn't take running with the extra weight. I now have only 20 lbs to go, and running is working! I'm currently trying to do about 3 miles a day at least three times a week--and some upper body weights, too.
Mac and cheese lover!
I wasn't able to lose the last 10-15lbs until after I stopped BFing DS. Then I went on weight watchers as well as doing cardio workouts 3-4/week for 30mins each time. I dropped 25 lbs and got below my pre-pregnancy weight. It was great.
Edit: Also...the pooch never went away. I fit into all my clothes again but the flab of skin stayed.
Please, please take it easy and don't be hard on yourself. With my first child - I stressed and stressed about losing the weight that first year. I got so upset and depressed about it (I gained 60 each time and had c/s each time). It finally all came off by 11 months - after I had dieted, used a trainer, etc. This time I promised myself I wouldn't stress as much. I did WW this time (which I highly recommend and should have done the first time) and lost it all by six months. I didn't have as much time to work out this time around either.
The other posters are so right - 9 months up, 9 months down.
Thank you to everyone who has commented! I am going to try some of your suggestions because it is rough knowing that I can't fit into any of my pre pregnancy clothes and have to work starting in November. And people still make comments as if I am still pregnant.
Thanks again!
