I am also trying to live life as green as possible....well just starting to. My MIL is very into it as well, and has inspired me. We get together at least once a week and end up talking about all the things we would like to start doing. She just started composting, and as much as I would like to do that, we live in an apartment until we find a home. I am just starting to do pretty basic things right now like taking my own totes to the grocery, buying many things second-hand, will start recycling (again), etc. Any tips you can share?

Me too! We also live in an apartment so composting, sadly, is not an option for us. We have been recycling and reusing as much as possible, we also cloth diaper DS full time, but since LO arrived I really got excited about going as much green as possible. My biggest tip would be read Green Babies, Sage Moms. That book has opened my eyes to not just about the environment but how toxic many chemicals we use everyday are. I just started making my own cleaners, and as of our last laundry day, detergent and softener free, I'll be making my own from now on...DH thinks I'm a dork for getting really excited about it but he's not complaining about me saving us some bucks in the process

Will check that one out, thanks!
That's too funny:) I think it's awesome. Like I said, my MIL has been my inspiration-she is SO into it and is very resourceful. Besides saving money, one thing I love about the "green" lifestyle is learning to be self sufficient/reliant! It's rewarding in so many ways.
