Mix of pickup/put down and ferber?

Hi- does anyone use a mix of pick up/put down and ferber? has it worked for you? My four month old's sleep has been regressing steadily for weeks and now as soon as his head hits the crib, he wakes up and cries and refuses to go to sleep. The only thing is that he suffers from (controlled) reflux. Sometimes he will be crying because he has an air bubble that needs to get out. So I need to pick him up to rule that out. Plus, I have tried just patting/shushing (when I havent fed him) and he gets even more mad. So ideally I would like to use the 5/10/15 minute ferber intervals but instead of patting, picking up and putting back down.

    How old is your LO? DS was a trainwreck from 4-5 months and is getting better now. 4 months is a common sleep regression time, so I wouldn't do any sleep training now.

    This. And I don?t think mixing techniques is a good idea. Consistency is the key with sleep training. Pick one method and stick with it.
