Pull-ups for Small LO

DS is two years old but very small for his age. He currently weighs 23 pounds (4th percentile). He is starting to use the potty so I was think of getting him some pull-up type diapers to try but noticed the smallest size is in a 2T-3T which sound way to big considering DS still wears 12-18 month pants.

If you also have a small LO and have tried pull ups, do they work okay or are they too big to fit snugly (either at the waist or leg)?

Re: Pull-ups for Small LO

  • Pull ups are a waste of money IMO.  They will just pee in them like a diaper anyway.  Go straight to underwear.  The character ones (like mickey, thomas...) shrink so they should fit.  If your DC requires pull ups get huggies.  They have the sides that open and you can adjust them so they are smaller.

  • My DD is 2.5 and about 23lbs.  We started PullUps when she turned two and was about 21lbs and they worked fine.

And I agree they are kind of a waste.  DD just pees in them like a diaper.

She also fits in the 2T/3T character underwear just fine.

  • I call bull on the regular undies fitting We have tried but no amount of shrinkage will make them an 18 month size when they are a 3T I have been trying.  We have used the huggies pullon ones with the side adjust we bough a size 3 and they are a little to big but worked.  We normally cloth diaper and DS is nowhere near outgrowing his onesized diapers we are in the same one he wore at 4 months.

As for going in the diaper that depends on the kid I like to have a diaper on becasue DS was forced to pee his pants at daycare and now he will not potty train at certain loctions and then at other he is 100% so we still need the diaper or lots and lots of outfits I don't like laundry so its diapers

  • Kroger's 2t-3t size runs a little smaller than Huggies 2t-3t size, and this is what I got for my daughter. They come apart at the sides like the Huggies do too.

Put them on backwards.  DS insisted on this since the characters are on the back and he wanted to see them. They don't fall off since the front is smaller then the back.  DS has no butt so it actually worked out good for him.

  • My boys are 24 and 26 lbs and fit into the 2t pullups, they almost seem like they are getting a little small for them and I may buy a pack of the next size just to do a comparison... I wouldn't worry about them fitting your LO... they fit smaller than the size 4 huggies little movers.

We still wear 12 month clothes so that must be the problem I have with the real undies they are HUGE on DS he is very skinny (40% in hieght but off the charts on weight)  the size 4 diapers are giant the 3's are to big on him
