Gemma...really?!

Re: Gemma...really?!

  • I love the name Gemma.  It would be on our list, except my FIL's dog is named Gemma.

And in certain parts of the UK, it's most assuredly not trashy.

Maybe it's the hard G sound that puts me off.

It is not a hard G. It is a soft G.

Then I really really dont like it. I always thought that it was a hard G. A friend of mine has a horse named Gemma. Good horse name.

  • I think Gemma is a great name!
  • I'm trying to figure out how the "trashy" aspect comes into play with this name. It's not like the Lexy/Candy/Destiny combos that get tossed out. I like it--it is also the name of Katey Sagal's character on Sons of Anarchy. I have good name assosciation with this!

  • I don't mind it so much..  wouldn't use it but don't hate it
  • I'm not a fan but I couldn't give two shits what another person calls their child..it has no bearing on my life.  My cousin named her daughter Hero...I was blown away by how horrible it was....a girl...named Hero? ...is she nuts?  But in the end it's not my child.  She had her own reasons for choosing that name, apparently she's a fan of Shakespeare.

Good for her for using a decent, correctly spelled, real name! Two thumbs up to her.

Uh yeah. This!  It is a legit name spelled correctly.

  • I think Gemma is actually a pretty nice name.  I probably wouldn't choose it, but I wouldn't side-eye someone for picking it either.
