Cloth Diapering

What CD do you use that fit under your LO's pants?

Hi! I have been using BG 4.0 one size for my LO who is 10 weeks. Now that it is getting colder I want to dress her in pants but none of her pants will fit over the big bulk of her BG diapers! I have 3 BG size small diapers that I use for overnight but would like some CD that are inexpensive during this transition period to fit under her pants...any suggestions?

Also, if you use BG AIO, when did they start fitting under your LO's pants?

Thanks so much for any suggestions!!

  • I've never had anything not fit under her pants. You could always go up a size in pants and see if that works. My Kawaii seems pretty trim.

Ironically, MIL got DD 2 pairs of shorts this summer that are 2 sizes too big, "so she can wear them over her diapers". They're gigantic on her!

This. Stretchy pants have always fit in his size, but sometimes jeans or khakis need to be up a size. Especially when he was very young.

  • I use the sized BG AIOs when she is in nonstretchy pants. The BG elementals are also very trim.

  • Some things that have worked well for us are Tots Bots easy fit (my favorite) and a flip cover with a trifolded prefold in it.  Our BG 4.0's are some of the bulkier diapers we have, but they'll most likely fit until PT so it's a trade off.

What brand of pants are you using?  I found that some Gymboree pants need a little altering so that they open more at the "fly".  I just got a seam ripper and opened them up a bit.  It's made a huge difference.

  • We use BG Elementals, and they are by far some of the trimmest diapers I've seen.  They are REALLY absorbent (not really night-worthy though).  My  DD is super skinny and it was important to me to find a trim fitting diaper for her.  These really fit the bill.
  • We use lots of BG4s too. I wouldn't buy additional diapers but would just buy your DD's pants a size bugger. Like PPs have said, the diapers really only affect jeans and khakis. DS wears lots of little stretchy pants (Primarily Carter's and Circo brands) and they seem to fit over the CDs relatively well.

  • thanks so much for all your replies! I have several different brands-carters, gymboree, gap, etc. but I guess I will stick to stretchy pants for a few months :) Part of it may be that she is so young still!
  • We had a few BG sized when he wore smalls that fit nicely. Now we use BottomBumpers or BG Elementals when he is wearing something that is tighter fitting (which isn't often since he's so freaking skinny so the fluff is helpful usually).

  • We use BG 4.0's and have never had a problem with pants, except for jeans.  For those we still size up.

  • Bright Star Baby AIOs are super trim!! I haven't tried BG elemental yet so I can't compare. I'm a fan of rompers and overalls because they seem to be roomier. :)

  • Now, pretty much everything we have fits under his pants. He is 5.5months and can wear 3-6 and 6-9 month pants.  We have BG 3.0 and 4.0. Best bottoms, rumparooz, monkey snuggles fitted, thirsties duo pockets, and several WAHM brands.

At the age that your DD is the only ones that easily fit under pants were best bottoms and thirsties duo size 1. They are both super trim!
