Hi everyone
I have been on the nest/ the bump for a long time. Never realized there was a VBAC board here! i was so happy to find it!
I had DS 4 1/2 years ago. He was 1 week overdue, i was induced, then 27 hours later pushed for 3 hours and then had a c-section. He was "face up" which apparently is the reason he didnt come out with all that pushing. My recovery was awful after the c-section.
I had my pre-conception visit a couple weeks ago, my OB is good with VBACs as long as it is safe, and i go in to labor on my own. she wont induce or do anything like that though, and if i dont deliver/labor on my own by 40 weeks she will schedule a c-section at that point... which is fine with me.
so we are now TTC and I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. i am keeping my fingers crossed for a BFP and then a VBAC if all goes well
Re: New to VBAC board
Hi and Welcome. If you're really serious about having a VBAC, you may want to talk to your doctor about the 40 week restriction or get a second opinion. There is really no medical basis for that restriction on a VBAC. Since you would have been at least 41 weeks with your DS, there's a good chance you'll go post-dates with your second. I am changing providers because of that restriction.
Good luck with TTC!
Welcome! There are a lot of us who had c/s with sunny side up babies and then had VBACs with our 2nd.
I agree with pp that the 40 week deadline is unnecessarily restrictive, so you might want to think about whether you would be fine with having a RCS at that point. If not, you should look for someone else.
VBACs can also be safely induced using a few different methods--Foley bulb, amniotomy and low-dose Pit.
