Re: Preschool check-in
~ DD is 4.5, and in the 4 year old program (next year is Kindergarten). She goes MWF 8:30-11:30.
~ She was so happy to go back to school! This location is walking distance from our house, so I love it. And she has two 'best friends' there, which is great.
~ This week there is a field trip on Friday to the orchard, so that should be nice (DH will come, so the whole family will be there).
~ DD already has the sniffles, so I won't complain - I figured she would get sick once she started school, and it's not too bad.

How old is your DC and what program/year are they in? How many days/hours do they go? Chelsea is 3. She is attending the 3s program at Park Avenue Nursery School in Schenectady. She goes Tue/Thur from 9-11:30.
How was the beginning of preschool / adjustment? Well she has only gone for one hour so far last Thur but she loved it! They phase in the 3-yr-olds.
Anything going on this week? (#1 day, theme, snack, etc)? This week they will still be phasing in so Tue she will go for 1 and 1/2 hrs, then 2 hours on Thur.
Feel free to add anything else! Even something like things you are excited to get/ have gotten from the Scholastic catalog this month! It is a co-op style school so I am looking forward to volunteering in class! We did have a Family Picnic yesterday and it was a lot of fun. I'm just looking forward to seeing Chelsea make new friends and have fun!
How old is your DC and what program/year are they in? How many days/hours do they go? Gavin is almost 3.5 and is attending preschool T/TH for 3 hours.
How was the beginning of preschool / adjustment? First day drop off went great! Pick up...not so much. He was pushed down on the playground, so he got upset, and then had an accident in the classroom because he was too scared to use the adult sized toilet. So, he was in TEARS when I picked him up. But, after working out the bathroom issue with his teacher, he's been much better.
Anything going on this week? (#1 day, theme, snack, etc)? This month they're focusing on fall, the colors yellow and brown, and squares. Tomorrow is Gavin's day for show and tell...he's changed what he wants to take like 17 times.

How old is your DC and what program/year are they in? How many days/hours do they go? Ian is 3, and just started the Preschool 2 room at his daycare. He's there from 7:15 to 3:30 or 4 everyday.
How was the beginning of preschool / adjustment? The first day was horrible! We had been sending him 2 days a week over the summer to keep him in the routine, and also because DH and I worked most weeks this summer. For most of August, he screamed and cried when either of us dropped him off, but ended up being fine for the most part within about 10 minutes. First day was the same, but on the second day, I practically had to beg for a hug and kiss goodbye because he was immediately off playing with his friends. Right now, as always, he's struggled with listening and following directions during circle time. He can really be a follower, so it doesn't take much to get him off and fooling around. I'm really worried that this will be the theme for the next 13+ years.
Anything going on this week? (#1 day, theme, snack, etc)? They do a different letter each week. This week is C. Just reminded me that I have to work with him on C words to tell his teacher. Also, the big weekly theme is "Fall". Also just reminded me that we forgot to gather up leaves to bring for projects this week. Thanks for reminding me!
Feel free to add anything else! Even something like things you are excited to get/ have gotten from the Scholastic catalog this month! Just put in my first Scholastic order last week! Previously, I had ordered a bunch through my SMIL who is a reading teacher, so really didn't need anything new. They had a Skippy Jon Jones pack that my friend raved about. Hope he likes it!
How old is your DC and what program/year are they in? How many days/hours do they go? Justin is 2 1/2. He goes to the 3yr old program Tues & Thurs from 9:15-11:45.
How was the beginning of preschool / adjustment? He LOOOVES it. He never even looked back when I dropped him off but he was so affectionate and excited to see me at pick up. It's a little hard because he has a 2nd floor classroom and I have to bring the twins in with me to his classroom to drop him off. I always get a little nervous in parking lots when I have all 3.
Anything going on this week? (#1 day, theme, snack, etc)? They are just working on learning their daily routine and songs. For the 1st few months each parent has to volunteer to bring snack/help out, I automatically got the day before J's bday so I have to wait 2 months to watch his class

Eva starts preschool tomorrow! So excited!
She's is 3.5yo and in the 3 yo class. (Tues/Thurs 9-12) She didn't want to leave on Saturday when we went to the meet and greet ice cream social so I'm hoping she'll be as eager tomorrow.
How old is your DC and what program/year are they in? How many days/hours do they go? She's getting close to 3.5 and goes MWF from 9-12.
How was the beginning of preschool / adjustment? Great! She's in the same classroom with the same teacher as last year, and most of the kids are the same too, so that's definitely made it easier. She seems more enthusiastic about going to school than she was last year, so that's great too.
Anything going on this week? (#1 day, theme, snack, etc)? I'm lucky in that DH can drop her off and pick her up, so I don't get to see as much of what's going on. But I do know that today they made applesauce together (and Rosie was very excited to tell me it had QUINCE! in it), so I'm guessing they're doing some autumn-related stuff.
DS started "school" on the 9th. He goes 2 days a week (2 1/2 hours a day).
He was excited until he realized that mom wasn't staying
and then he got a little nervous. On Fri. one of the kids was crying and he was on the verge of crying himself but he managed to compose himself!
This past week their theme was fall/apples/and the letter A!
Evie is 2.5 and is going to the "toddler" program at the montessori school on our town. Its for 20-36 months, but I am pretty sure she can finish the year in the class even once she's 36 months. she's going W/F for 2 hours per day.
She loves school. She never has cried at drop off.. She just walks in and runs off to do whatever is she wants to do. I always have to bring her back to put her school shoes on and chase her down to kiss her goodbye. She did have one potty accident the first day but the 2nd day she did great. She cried when I picked her up both times. When the weather is nice they play outside until pick up so its hard to pull her off the playground.. Hopefully once its too cold to play outside it will be easier to pick her up because they will just be lined up by the door instead of playing.
Her school doesn't really do themes. They do a food tasting every week and last week was apples.. Not sure what this week will be.

I just read your blog post about pre-school. I'm glad it went so well and can't get over how cute and unique Eva is. Love that she was excited about her outfit and the drawing.
