I am planning on CDing with my first little one, but I was curious about how much you ladies spent on diapers (for those who started CDing later on). I was trying to figure out how many regular disposable diapers you would use and how many boxes I would have to buy at the grocery store every week. Kind of off topic, but I'm trying to just get some combined information for family and some friends who are considering switching over, just can't find very detailed information and thought you Ladies could help :-) Thanks Ladies!!!

Re: A General Cost Question ....
Spent about $700 for all the fixin'...and wasn't really trying to cut costs anywhere, though I did buy some stuff used. I got prefolds/covers and some kissaluvs for NB stages. 15 pockets to last us the rest of the way. Even with detergent and washing/drying its MUCH cheaper then the $2,500-$3000 that most spend on diapering with disposables.
If we use them for a second child...we save a bundle more. And the environmental impacts and health of my child and her bum are also big bonuses I feel.
I would say that we've spent about $800 for everything, including wet bags, pails, etc.. We use regular wipes so that includes all the little garbage cans for those too. However, I've sold most of my NB dipes for a grand total of $146 (we aren't having another LO for at least 3 years) and my stash is pretty big. I have 3 dozen GMD prefolds, 6 Bummis and Thirsties covers, 10 BGE's including three artist, 5 Grovia's, 4 minky blueberry dipes, 4 swaddlebees, 2 sets of gDiapers and inserts and then a bunch of single random brands. Plus we have a senstive heavy wetter so I have 18 stay dry liners and 8 hemp or bamboo inserts...oh and I bought it all brand new except for the prefolds and covers so I'm really not cutting any costs. I also use Tide detergent so it's not super expensive and wash every 2-3 days.
We used sposies for 2 weeks when he was a NB bc of yeast issues and we spent over $40 WITH coupons..holy crap. And the house stunk. And we had to take out the garbage daily because there was so much. And they leaked like CRAZY. oh And they're ugly...everytime I put on a sposie I think about how many other babies are wearing that exact diaper.
Cloth diaper sales don't happen often but you can get great deals used, discounts for buying in bulk and usually the CD websites will give you some sort of free shipping and reward points which can add up. I know Diaper Junction gives 5% for reviewing an item. HTH!!
I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for but I figured out that it would take six months for us to equal what I paid in cd's as it would for us to buy disposables. So the cost of our 20 some (mostly BG's) equals 6 months of buying disposables. I don't really remember the breakdown.
After the newborn stage we went through about 7 or 8 dipes a day (disposables).

I spent about $700 including NB and OS and all accessories, and could probably go 4 days without washing our main stash if I had to...5 if included PFs and covers. We also have a dozen LO doesn't fit in yet (oh, to have his skinny thighs), and I have a dozen I dislike that I bought used, have never really used, and plan to resell soon.
