We had 2 receivers & 2 transmitters. If you only have 1 receiver, you will have to switch back and forth between channels. You will only be able to hear 1 kid at a time. We bought 2 of the exact same fisher price monitors so that all the parts would be interchangeable, but we would just have to remember which room was on which channel. Not sure if that helps.

We have the Summer Infant Video Monitor. We have two of the exact same model with one transmitter in DS's room and one in DD's room. We keep DS's on channel B and DD's on channel A. During the day, if they are both napping at the same time (ha ha), I carry one receiver and switch back and forth between the channels periodically to check on them both. At night, we put one receiver on DH's nightstand tuned into channel A and the other receiver on my nightstand tuned into channel B so that we can hear/see both kids.
We have this one and love love love it! It scans between each camera every 5 seconds so you don't have to manually switch rooms. Awesome sound and picture quality. We've owned several monitors, and this is the only one we've found that has no interference issues with anything in our home.

I have a summer infant too. I love it but you have to manually switch back and forth between rooms which isnt super helpful at nights unless you wake up and want to check. But it's nice with toddlers where you don't NEED to keep it on constantly but want to check on them before bed/waking up. Ive heard there are ones that switch back and forth every 5 seconds between the rooms though- not sure what brand.
