So after 3 weeks of BCP, I go in tomorrow for my follow up cyst ultrasound. If it's gone, we'll be back to Clomid, Ovidrel, and IUI #2. If it's still there...I'm not sure where we will be going. I'm still having pains on my right side, so I have a bad feeling the cyst is still there.
DH and I have been doing a lot of talking lately and I think we're going to take a break from meds, doctor's appt, etc. and just keep trying naturally. This is such a hard decision to come to and at times I wonder if I'm making the right decision or if I'll regret it in a couple months. At times I also feel like I'm giving up on having a baby.
A lot of things went into the decision:
- I'm only teaching a maternity leave until January
- we hate to dig too much into our savings account with me not having a secure job, we decided to use the extra money that we will have from not going to the doctor to pay off student loans and our cars so we can have that extra money in the long run if we are still trying and need IVF
- I'm becoming mentally and physically exhausted and my body is starting to hate me
- Until January, I'm running out of sick days to even continue treatment
Now the question is when to stop. If I do have a cyst tomorrow, we'll be done starting then. If I don't have a cyst, we'll continue with IUI #2, but then after that I'm not sure if I want to do IUI #3. I have just enough days to do IUI #2 and IUI #3, and that's taking all my days so if I'm sick or there's a family emergency I'm screwed. Also we always take a day off in October together to go visit festivals a few hours away and if I do IUI #3 I won't get to do that this year. Then I feel bad that I'm even considering that because my priority is having a baby, but I'm tired of missing fun events we do every year because I don't have the days to do them. What would 3T do in this situation?
Thanks for listening or should I say reading..it feels good to get if off my chest to people who know what I'm going through with this big decision.
Re: Big Decisions
I'm really sorry that you have to make these tough decisions. It's never easy, that's for sure. I hope for your sake that the cyst is gone and that you can at least squeeze in another cycle.
I think it's smart hat you're playing it by ear with your job up in the air. Hopefully something comes through for you soon and you won't have to worry about it!
