First day by myself- eek!

My mom left today, so tomorrow will be the first day I have both kids by myself. Rosie has preschool, so it shouldn't be too bad. But DH just dropped a bomb on me and told me that Tuesday he will be working late, so he'll be gone all day and won't be here for dinner or bedtime. I am kind of freaking out, especially because I think we're starting to hit the 3 week growth spurt. Any tips from you experienced mamas?

  • You'll be fine!

My best tip would be to give yourself LOTS of time for everything. To get Justin out the door at 9:00 for Pre-K, I have to start getting everyone ready at 7:30. Then it's like an assembly line... 3 breakfasts, 3 baths, 3 get dressed, 3 coats/blankies, then shoes for Justin- carseats for the twins.

Do something nice for yourself to celebrate your "1st day" with 2 alone. Stop for Starbucks or get a nice fall boquet at the grocery store. You deserve it :)

  • You'll be fine!!! I'm off tomorrow so if ya need extra help just let me know! Wink Or if you want to get out of the house... sometimes I feel like the days I'm overwhelmed with K ... it's just better to get out of the house a little bit... to the park or whatever... just breaks up the day. Good luck!

  • Good luck!

My DH went back to school for his MBA just weeks after my 2nd was born, so it was really tough.  You are really lucky your older DD is going to preschool, it was a lifesaver for me.  I could shower etc!  Just take it easy.. do a lot of premade/frozen/ quick meals when you can, have things ready the night before, relax when you can.  Keep us posted!

  • Good Luck, you will get thru it!
  • Good luck!  You'll have a great day, I'm sure.  I agree with MrsWhite...just remember to give yourself plenty of time.  Wear T as much as possible, too.  That's what I do when it's time to get G ready for bed on nights when I'm here alone.  Let us know how it goes!
  • Good luck! I'm sure you'll be fine. Give yourself lots of time if you have to go anywhere, and keep meals simple.
