My husband thinks that people will pronounce her name wrong. I want it to be pronounced like Leah. What are peoples thoughts on this? How would you pronounce Liah?

With my name being Leah but spelled without the h people sometimes mispronounce it like Lee or Leia. It doesn't really bother me, I like being a little different (even though I know I'm not the only one - Lea Michelle from Glee) I think it is a matter of how much you like the name and how much would it bug you, the DH, and your future daughter if it gets mispronounced. GL!

My mom's mn is Lea, but it's pronounced like Lee. Her dad's mn was Lee, and I guess my grandmother thought trading the e for an a made it more feminine and still made it to where she was named after her dad. I'm totally guessing here.

You could spell it Leigha if you really need to be different. Probably not a popular choice on this board but definitely better than Liah which makes no sense.
Totally agree with this.
I know Leah and a Lia. I think Leah is a more beautiful name.
I guess I'd probably pronounce Liah as Lye-ah. Not a fan. Looking at it kind of stumps me because I wouldn't necessarily know how to pronounce it.

before you specified how it should be pronounced I was saying" L EYE UH" not Leah and I was thinking is sound like slang for liar. I think spelling is a little to close to liar

After reading through all of these, I really appreciate peoples honesty! But this one above is great! Well put everyone. This is what I needed. I feel like sometimes family just agrees so they won't hurt my feelings. But no feelings hurt here! I love the name and I will keep it traditional with Leah!

Re: Thoughts on the name Liah
Agreed.
This. Why would you want to spell it "wrong"?
I'd pronounce it like "liar" but with a hardcore accent. Kind of like a liah liah pants on firah sort of thing.
I'd definitely spell it Leah.

...which in turn makes me think of Miracle Max's wife Valerie. "LIAH!!!!!" "Stay back, witch!" "I'm not a witch, I'm your wife!"
Aaaaanyway....are we voting? I vote Leah.
This.
I like Leah over Liah.

This, 100%
ditto
Agree with this precisely.
