3D ultrasound

I was sharing with a co-worker yesterday that DH and I were going to get a 3D ultrasound to reveal the gender and she told me "don't do it they cause contractions and will put you into labour"

Has anyone else heard of this?  I haven't before her saying it and I know many people that have had them.  We are going to still get the 3D but I was just curious if anyone else has been told this.

And just want to add...I am kind of getting tired of unsolicited advice from people...like "don't eat cold cuts" "don't drink coffee" "watch your sugar intake" Geez people take a hike...I'm not going to hurt my baby...anything I eat I have cleared with my doctor and ate with my DS and he turned out just fine!  LOL, ok mini vent over

I've never done an elective 3D, but at all the u/s I've had they always turn on the 3D.  They were done by the MFM dr.  So I don't think there is a problem with them.

If they were known to cause complications of any kind they wouldn't be allowed to do them.  There are a lot of studies done to make sure that the testing we have done during pregnancy is completely safe, or at least that the benefits outweigh the risks.

Its just like a regular u/s machine (with enhancements) and they can turn on the 3D function. The way she explained it to us was a reg u/s you see through the baby, the 3d is like a picture of the baby. We had ours yesterday day. WOW a wonderful experience. The tech took her time and it was just amazing laying there watching our little man move around. These places that do these u/s do hundreds of them a month. I think that woman didnt know what in the heck she was talking about.

I've already had 2 3d Ultrasounds and no contractions yet! My doctor's office seems to do them regularly with ultrasounds- I've had two internals so far because of a tilted uterus and more ultrasounds than usual because of a cyst on my ovary. I'll have to see what happens at my next appointment to see if they'll do it again.
