Rec pediatrician in Arlington

I'm new to the area. I have Blue Shield Blue Cross. Can anyone recommend a pediatrician for my infant? Thanks in advance.

Re: Rec pediatrician in Arlington

  • We go to the Capitol Area Pediatrics office in Falls Church on Washington St.  (CAP is a pretty big group with lots of offices, but this is the Watson Salisbury office, that I think is the only one that uses CAP as their name.)  I really like Dr. Oh-Tan.

  • CAP sounds great. Do they have a nurse's hotline? How hard is it to get those late evening and weekend appointments? Is parking easy?I was hoping to find a practice either close to Pentagon City or a metro, but if not, CAP seems like just the office I was looking for.
  • We lived in Arlington (Pentagon City) when we had DS, but most of the recommendations we got for pediatricians were in Falls Church or Alexandria. We go to Northern Virginia Pediatrics and really like Dr. Kelly, but we've also heard good things about several other doctors there. I think it meets the requirements you listed. (The parking lot is often close to full, but I've always been able to get a space.) Check out their web site: https://www.northernvirginiapediatrics.com/index.htm. I also considered Sleepy Hollow, also in Falls Church, and Children's Medical Associates in Alexandria and liked both. We ended up choosing Northern Virginia Pediatrics because we have good friends who go there.

  • QueSrah and LMH, you ladies are awesome! Thank you for narrowing down my search. If you have any ideas on how to find a nanny or rec for nanny service, please let me know. Relocating is tough with an infant.

I don't know about a nurse's hotline - I've called the regular number and spoken to a nurse once or twice to decide whether we needed to go in.  I've never tried for a late evening appt. because they don't work for DD's eating/sleeping schedule.  The weekend appts are for sick visits only, and luckily we haven't needed one so far, but it's been nice to have someone available in an emergency.  Sundays are only at the office in Reston.  Parking is never a problem.

  • We also go to NOVA Pediatrics and have been quite pleased.  We've seen a few different docs and all have been fine.  The only thing is there are no separate sick/well waiting rooms.
