Boston area ladies

Can you think of any names that might pose a problem in our area?  I really like the name Parker but I can just hear the "boston version" of it now... Pahkah and it give me the chills.  For that reason its off the list.  Can you think of any others?  I don't want to doom my kid!

Re: Boston area ladies

  • Someone suggested Logan to me and I nixed it because of the airport.  We also scratched Brady off the list for obvious reasons.

  • We actually scratched all sports figures names off, just b/c of the sports obsession around here.  Peyton was one of my favorites, but it had to go, along with Brady.  We also scratched off Logan and Kennedy.

  • I actually hear Parker quite a bit around here in Boston.  It is pretty poular - I like it.

  • Maybe it is where I live (Western burbs of Boston), but I rarely hear a really pronounced Bahs-ton accent, so I wouldn't rule Parker out because of that.  I wouldn't use Brady, Logan, or Kennedy as other people mentioned.  A girl I know named her new son Jacoby and I wouldn't do that, either, since it is kind of a "unique" name and clearly after Jacoby Ellsbury.  I wouldn't rule out other more common names that are sports stars, though, like Paul (Pierce), David (Ortiz), etc, just the ones where it is CLEARLY after the sports star.
  • drew, brady, peyton(girl or boy).

anything ending in an R will end in an ah.

  • I agree with other posters that I don't think you should take Parker out of the running. Depending on where you are, it may not be butchered too badly.

Funny enough, I very much am considering using Brady for this next baby (we know it's a boy). I love the Pats, and especially my poor Tommy, but it's never crossed my mind that it would be "in honor of" him. Boys names are tough, IMO, so if I really like a name, I don't care whether people were to make that association. On the other hand, I do agree that I could never name my child Peyton. I really dislike that golden boy ;)

  • I have a friend named Mark and, growing up, everyone called him Mak without the r.
