Boy name help - Eli

Hi ladies. DH and I agreed that we liked the sound of Eli Harrison (DH's family middle name) for our DS. But I really liked the idea of naming my boy Elijah, or another "full" (sorry, can't think of any other way to describe it), then using the NN Eli. The problem is, DH doesn't like Elijah or Elliott and those are the only "full" names that I can think of to shorten down to Eli. I'm willing to compromise and just call him Eli, but I was curious to see if you all had any ideas of other names that could be shortened. Thanks!

    Eli is a perfectly legit "full" name and a great one, at that.

    I don't think there is anything wrong with just Eli.  But I also love Elias.  Elias Harrison sounds great together!

    We are just using Eli as a stand alone name.  However, if we went with a "full" name it would be Elias.

    Thanks ladies! I'll run Elias by him, but I don't see it flying. Glad to know there are others who are going to use just Eli for the first name, makes me feel better about compromising with DH.

    If it weren't for you using the mn Harrison, I would suggest Eliason. I know it's a surname...but I like it.

    I kind of like Elias too. Elias Harrison sounds nice!

    For one more option, Eli Manning's full name is Elisha (but I wouldn't use that to sway your DH if he's an Eagles fan or something).

    I personally LOVE elijah (my son's name...) but Eli can totally stand on it's own.

    Came across Elian today and loved it- pronounced El-eye-an, sound like E-lion.

    It is Latin for Sun. DH shot it down immediately, as he does all of my ideas.
