6 months post partum - still having pain

DD is 6.5 months old, and everytime I take a short walk, I still have (what I think is) round ligament pain in my left leg (groin/upper thigh area). I can't walk straight for days after. And I'm taking slow walks, not on a lot of incline, either. It could even be from walking around the mall for an hour.

Anyone else still having this? Should I go to the dr? My delivery was relatively easy and recovery was a breeze. It's really bothering me that I can't imagine actually exercising. Any advice?

  • def see a doc. it could just be stretched. i've had that pain before pregnacy on my left side. it turned out to be my bowels cause thats where it comes down and it was just packed so i just make sure i drink lots of water and plum juice to make sure im regular. could be the same problem but yes go to the doc to make sure

  • Did you wear a girdle PostP?  I wore one that was really tight over my hips and belly.  I had RLP during pregnancy and somewhat after, but I think the girdle (which I wore 24/7, even working out), helped since it kept my hips/upper legs held in place.  But definitely ask your doctor!

  • im still getting pain round the same kind of area and lo  is almost 11 months.

    it comes and goes

  • No, I never wore a girdle.
  • I would talk to your doctor or see a reputable chiropractor.

I started seeing a good chiropractor at about 8 weeks pp and he said that my pelvis was out of alignment - tilted forward and to one side. Getting adjustments for that has helped me recover better.

  • I had that for a long time postpartum. It required treatment by an osteopath and physical therapy. It's due to misalignment of the pelvis (either leftover from being pregnant or just from the delivery) and your muscles not working properly. Definitely get some help. It takes awhile to rehab this, but it's doable! Oh, and try a womens health physical therapist as they should be more knowledgeable about this sort of thing. Good luck!
