Add me to the urine collection club My blood pressure was *slightly* elevated at my 12 wk appointment so this is what my doc called for. What can they tell about blood pressure from pee?[Poll]
with BP issues you often spill protein (and other things) in your urine, one quick collection may not show this but a 24 hour collection will give a better idea of idea what if any things are showing up there.
I haven't had to with the pregnancy but I had to do one for my RE. It wasn't that bad but make sure you get the "hat" thing. It makes it SO much easier.
And I think - don't hold me to this - that they are testing your cortisol levels. When you get stressed your body makes/releases more cortisol. So high blood pressure + high cortisol can be a problem. Hope this helps at least get you heading in the right direction for information.
They are checking protein levels. High blood pressure can cause your kidneys to not function well and protein to spill into your urine. It can be an indicator for pre-eclampsia. I just did mine at the beginning of the week. Mine was 440.
I had one and did not have elevated BP. Found protein in my urine (had been on meds for a UTI). It has been over a week and I have not heard a word from my doctor...

I have, but I do them regularly anyway for chronic kidney disease. they want a baseline so they can have an idea if it's going up or just.. my kidneys being jerks.

Did you have high BP?
I have chronic hypertension since before my first baby. Had a reading of 140/90 last week.
Re: 24 Hour Urine Collection Clicky Poll

Not this pregnancy, but with DS I was doing one once a week toward the end. I had PIH and they were super worried that I would get pre-e.
I hated having to carry around a jug of pee.
