TTC After a Loss 6 Months+

Down, but not out.

Normally if something happened to me like in my previous post (Well, the bad, the worse and the inappropriate) I would never contact another clinic.  Well I guess I have my BGP on cuz I just sent an email to a different clinic.  I am too chicken sh!t to call.  I was up front about my weight issues and my awful experience with the "other" clinic.

Here is my email:

I recently had my initial appointment with a Reproductive Endocrinologist and was shocked by what he suggested to me.  I am trying to find a clinic which is compassionate and willing to work with my weight concerns.  I do not want to waste another hour of my time just to have a Doctor tell me I am too over weight to pursue fertility testing.  Please reply to inform me of your clinic's policy on overweight patients.

Tell me what you think.  Was I dumb to send the email?  Was I too mean?  Did I not include enough information?  Let me have it girls: The good, the bad and the ugly of my email.

Re: Down, but not out.

  • I think it's a good email! It opens up the discussion with a very important factor. Depending on what you find out, you can seek another clinic or pursue this one more. Because the bottom line, the weight seems to be a deciding factor to some clinics. Why give them more information when they may not want to go forward.

  • I think that's a great starting place.  I totally understand trying to prevent from what happened before from happening again!  And I really think that their stance on weight is not across the board for all clinics.

I hope you get a response back soon! And if you don't maybe follow it up with a phone call.  You have to be your biggest advocate!

  • I dont think it was dumb at all. The only thing that *I* might have done would have been a little more specific about Dr. Douche (Like the doctor didn't like "X" in particular, what is your procedure with that).

I am outraged at how you were treated at the other clinic. That wasn't professional nor helpful. I'm sorry.

  • I think that was a great idea!  I wouldn't be surprised if this clinic has some more specific questions for you, but I think your e-mail is a great starting place.  I hope this new clinic is the right one for you!

  • I think it's great.  Honesty.  To the point.  And it tells the person on the other end that you are taking this seriously and want them to as well.  I think it's a great place to start.  You are absolutely right...you do not need to waste another hour...or anytime on someone who doesn't really care.

  • I actually think the email is a good idea.  It's a great way to get the information without wasting your time like the other clinic did.  I will keep my FX that you find a clinic that you like.

  • I think it was a great email.  I think it's really great that you are moving ahead after your experience the other day - it was awful.  I agree that they may have more questions or want more specifics, but I think it was a great way to open a dialog with someplace else.  Best of luck hun - I hope you can find a place that will be supportive of you in every way.
