Stokke Tripp Trapp? Anyone have love or hate?

We had a peg pergego for our now preschooler and this time I want something thatnwill blend in with our kitchen more. I like that he would sit at the table with us as a part of the family and a friend told me they love the heck out of theirs. Has anyone had experience with it? Anything bad other than what seems like an high price? I'm afraid I will have to buy a ton of the accessories to make it work for our 6 month old- the extenders, table placemat, cushion, baby set, this could end up being really pricey. Ty for the feedback (and yes I am jumping ahead but I have an older boy so is it still cheating?)

  • i wanted a stokke but decided it was too expensive. we got a keekaroo instead, which was very highly rated on amazon and kind of the same thing. i love it. it's decent looking, solid wood and not too hard to change the sizes. we've had it a couple of months and i'm very happy.

  • We have a Tripp Trapp and really like it. As far as accessories, the extenders come with it, so don't worry about those. I also wouldn't get a cushion - its just one more thing to clean - the nice thing about the TT is that you can just wipe it off.  We did buy a play tray and the baby set. They were both nice to have but only for a short period of time and now we don't use them anymore so I would say you could do without those. The best thing about the TT is being able to pull him right up to the table at meal times so that he feels like he's part of the experience. We have a tiny diner placemat for him ($20) that's perfect. And the TT pushes right under the table when not in use just like my other chairs. Definitely recommend.

  • I really really wanted one.  Then I did some googling and found out they have a tipping problem (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NB7V7HDYAtQ).  This video is from 2008, so I'm not sure if they have improved the design, but it was enough for me to choose a different chair.

The extenders are to correct the tipping problem.

  • We have one and love it.  We didn't buy a play tray, just a regular tray and that works out fine for him.  My BFF bought a Stokke look-alike at BRU and it's horrible (her baby is younger and we use it when we go over to their house).  Their tray doesn't disconnect from the chair unless you literally unscrew it (very weird design IMO).  The extenders came with mine as well.  We also bought a cushion, but just throw it in the wash every now and then.  The biitch of it all is cleaning the straps.  I've been hand-cleaning them because it seems they don't disconnect?

Yes, that's true. I don't think they come off and they are the only part that's a little tricky to clean. I try to put A's bib over the straps so there's minimal cleanup.
