First, I would like to thank all of the wonderful ladies for all of the support you offered yesterday. Today's appointment went really well and I have to say DH and I really like our RE and our nurse. Our RE said based on my DH sperm count IUI is not an effective option because of how low his count is and that it wouldn't meet the count they are looking for when performing IUI cycles. However, he said the best and most effective option in our case is IVF. When my next cycle starts in October I will go in on CD3 for bloodwork and sono. Then sometime between CD5 and CD10 I will have a HSG. During this time DH is going to have his SA redone to validate his numbers from his first SA. Also, he wants to retest my thyroid because he said he is not one hundred percent convinced that it is still not some sort of a factor even though my last test showed it was within normal range.
He went over the whole process from birth control pills to FSH shots and then to the ER and IVF. There is so much to remember, but they all seem really supportive and helpful in making sure we go through all of the steps correctly and without forgetting anything.
I did ask about hours and was happy to hear that they have hours starting at 7 and that means I can be there and back to work before my school day gets started. I am so excited to have a plan and know that there is hope. Thank you ladies for all of your help and insight over the course of this past year, it is greatly appreciated.
Re: Update: First RE Appt.
I am glad to hear that you and YH like the RE and his staff, that is very important. I am sorry that IVF seems to be the only option for you right now and hope that the repeat SA will show improvements!
Please check out 3T, too, if you haven't already. The ladies over there are awesome and know so much about all kinds of testing and procedures!
Good luck, sweetie!
Our RE's train of thought is that the person performing the original SA may not be as familiar with them, do to how often they probably deal with SAs. They do all testing and procedures in the office, so he feels that they will have more experience looking at and observing the sample. However, our RE seemed very confident and upbeat about our chances with IVF. I will definitely check out 3T.
I hope everything is going well for you and baby Ric!
