Ideas for an Elmo themed party for DD

Hi everyone! DD is turning 2 in January and I'm looking for ideas for an Elmo themed party since she is bordering on obsessed with Elmo and Sesame Street :) Anyone?

Re: Ideas for an Elmo themed party for DD

  • We did a Sesame Street party for Jack's 1st birthday.  I did all Sesame characters but Party City seems to have more Elmo than everything else.

We went pretty simple.  Plates, cups, napkins and a banner in Sesame Street.  Then we got balloons and tied them to his highchair.  His cake was also Sesame Street.

There are TONS of ideas out there for SS parties.

  • We did one.  I drew Big Bird footprints leading from the driveway to the door in chalk.  I made a Happy Birthday sign for DD in the shape and color of the 123 SS sign.  I had themed food - pink lemonade was Abby's Flying Fairy Juice.  Punch was Elmo's favorite punch.  Choc. chip cookies were Cookie Monster's of course and I made Oscar's "Trash" by putting aluminum foil over paper cups to make them trash cans and filled them with a gold fish, pretzel gold fish, popcorn and cheese-its mixture (each food had a sign made in card stock with photos of the character on them with their title).  I made "building blocks" out of boxes and wrapped them in solid color wrapping paper and made them look like blocks with SS characters on some sides.  We had an Elmo pinata with Elmo treat bags to collect the candy.  We had all Elmo paper goods and SS balloons and a large mylar Elmo walking balloon.  Our cake was a two tiered cake with a large Elmo made out of sculpting gum paste/fondant on top (my sister makes professional cakes).  I got carried away :)
  • I am planning on doing Elmo for DD's 3rd birthday (I plan WAY far in advance- she's not even 2 yet!) I'm planning on doing hot pink and orange- LOVE Polka dot Market for their balloons.

I was going to do goldfish in glass bowls for favors for each of the kids, along with crayons and coloring books since Elmo loves his crayons. I would also do all the food in glass goldfish bowls, and definalty have the goldfish crackers.

I would do custom water bottle labels and favor tags with the sesame street sign and do "your child's name Sreet". I would also get someone to come dressed up as Elmo and do face painting for the kids.

I would do a candy buffet, with lots of color coordinated candy- Candywarehouse.com allows you to buy candy by the color- very cool!  I would make or buy (they have them on etsy) very cute Elmo centerpieces- and a very cute lamp post that has a personlaized name plate on the top (like the seasme street lampost) A cupcake tower would be fun- have different characters on the cupcakes then have a small 8 inch cake on top that is just Elmo- since hes the main attraction. Save on Crafts has lots of different cupcake towers.
