Looks like it was Ectopic :-( (LONG)

DH took me to the ER last night because I was having sharp excruciating pains on my left side.  It was packed and we got there at 8pm and didn't get into a room and seen by a Dr until midnight.  They did an u/s and betas and then we just waited.  The Dr. didnt come in with results until almost 3am!  All she could tell me wasmy betas went up. They were 3700 Monday and 7000 last night (not a good sign). I also have a large cyst on both ovaries from the IVF meds but they can't physically see an ectopic and they wanna do a pelvic exam.  As this point I'm so aggravated I told them I didn't want the exam or the IV fluids and to just send me home because I was gonna see my RE in 4 hours.

 After arguing with both Dr. and nurse they sent me home.  I went in to see my RE this morning and she felt horrible for the ordeal I had been through. I gave her the results from the ER, they did b/w and she did an u/s. Still nothing in my uterus and she saw something very small in my left tube that she strongly believed was the embryo.  So I had to get the Methotrexate shot today and go back Sunday for b/w to monitor my levels.  Hopefully one is enough because that shot hurt and I really don't want another one.

We have to wait 3 months from the date of injection to get pregnant again.  I'm just so frustrated and angry at this point.  The Dr. kept telling me how rare ectopics with IVF are and that just made me feel worse! I don't know what I want our next step to be. Part of me wants a break and my not TTCAL life back but the other part of me so badly wants to be pregnant again.  BLah....Once we know the Methotrexate is working and I'm ok were gonna meet with my Dr. and figure out a plan.

I am so incredibly sorry for everything you are having to go through. I'm hoping and praying you only require the one shot, and have minimal pain. You're in my thoughts!

((hugs)) Sorry you had such a wait at the hospital. Hope you only need the one shot and glad they caught it before your tube ruptured. Will keep you in my thoughts.

I hope the methotrexate works, and you don't have to get another shot, and the physical part of this is over quickly for you!

Thank you ladies so much. I honestly dont know how I would get through all of this w/o you. I have so many emotions right now but I think since DH and I have no choice but to TTA the next few months I'm gonna try and focus on us, our new home, work and our family and friends.  The past 2yrs and the 4 losses have really taken a toll on me and I desperately need some time to regroup.

I will still be around to offer support and post occasionally but I really need to put TTC and babies on the back burner for a bit and really refocus my time and energy on getting DH and I through all of this! Love you Ladies and Thank you again!

FWIW, I don't know if this will make you feel less frustrated or more, but ectopics are actually slightly *more* common in IVF than in non-ART pregnancies. Instead of the egg being fertilized in the tube and making its way down to the uterus on its hormonal timeline, it's instead spending that time just kinda floating around in your ute, and then it attaches wherever it decides to attach. It's missing the hormonal signals telling it where to go and when, if that makes sense.

Thanks hun! Were just trying to decide whether or not its worth having the left tube removed before we attempt our next round of IVF.  The tube is severely damaged after the rupture and surgery with my first loss so it will never be of any positive use to us.  The whole process is just so draining.
